Description:

The Data/Reporting Engineer will analyze, develop and implement a reporting solution that aligns with the E2E business goals and system requirements and support the bidirectional movement of information between the E2E system and the NOAA Data Warehouse (NDW).

The Data/Reporting Engineer will be responsible to design, develop and maintain data model(s) to support the reporting solution.  Consult with the client and recommend best practices for successful implementation of the reporting solution.  Support in all aspects of data analysis and data movement among the E2E and data warehouse environment.

Create and maintain ETL specifications (e.g., source-to-target maps) for the bidirectional movement of data between E2E and the NDW, and within E2E to support the reporting solution (if appropriate).  Design and support the ETL data validation process.

Work with the PM to create and manage project schedule for the reporting and ETL solutions.  Work with the PM to identify and manage risks that pertain to the reporting and ETL solutions.  Work with Project Manager and DBAs to coordinate the reporting and ETL solutions development schedules with the application development schedule.  Report progress to internal and customer management in a timely and effective manner.  Train and mentor staff in the implementation of the reporting solution.

Requirements:

  • 7-10 years of relevant business analyst, project management and/or systems implementation experience.
  • 3-5 years of development and/or administrative experience with Oracle 9i and/or 10g, plus PL/SQL.
  • 1-2 years experience working with the NOAA Data Warehouse (NDW)
  • 3-5 years of implementation experience with BusinessObjects.
  • Proven experience working with customers, gathering requirements, modeling cases, and documenting business processes.
  • Proven experience working the development of high-quality technical documentation and written deliverables.
  • Experience in preparing and delivering technical presentations for business audiences.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.

Required Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field
